i've talked to a guy who has taken his V-22 to the bahamas and back.

he had no issues, just waited on weather.

You can take a kayak across the gulf stream if you really wanted to...look at what some of the Cubans arive in...a V-17 would be a pleasure cruise compared to what some of those guys/gals brought over here.

Will a Mac be suited for a sudden!! but with the right weather she will do fine!

I'd definately have the standing rigging and all chainplates checked out, make sure all sails are in excellent shape (spares on board if possible) and i wouldn't hesitate to take a V-21 or bigger across to the bahamas during ideal conditions.
