We are looking to mount a Raymarine below deck Auto Pilot.
QUESTION IS : how and where does one attach the second tiller arm to the rudder stock below deck ie cut into th glass rudder stock covering tube? Pictures would be great please if possible?
NB we have a tiller steering setup.
Thanking all,

Our boat is tiller steering. If yours is like ours, the rudder stock tube extends from the bottom of the boat to the top of aft seat in the cockpit. If water were to find its way up the tube to its top, it might burp out in the cockpit. Anyway, no water would enter the boat. If you were to cut the tube inside the boat, you would either have to add a packing gland to seal the tube at the cut or hope that the water level never gets above the cut.

We have two autopilots; one a Simrad TP-30 and the other a Simrad TP-32 either one is mounted in the cockpit. Neither is perfect. Both work acceptably well. Both are --- in the world of boat stuff --- inexpensive.

We have the two autopilots because one failed returning from the Bahamas years ago, and we decided we needed to have a backup. Simrad repaired the failed unit for free.

The spots where all the hardware in the photographs show steering gear on our boat is filled with two more group 27/29/31 batteries (one to port and another to starboard of the rudder stock tube) which along with the two in the port locker gives us a house bank of three and a starting battery of one.
