You're choices are to do the anti-freeze, open a drain plug if you have one or stop all the leaks (hah!). So I also go the anti-freeze route.

Last year I also sucked the bilge dry with a wet-dry vac at the beginning of winter. Probably the first time it's been totally dry in 30 years. I also got 30 years worth of dropped hardware.
