Basil is a great herb to grow aboard. We do and sail with it. The beauty of basil is that most bugs hate it. Take it and put some leaves in your flower and cereal and fresh veggies. Keep them large enough to remove so you don't cook them with your recipes. Be careful with others as we find that bugs like the soil,black ants especially. We are using a rosemary bush as a Christmas tree this year. Anyone who tells the kids it is not a hybrid-Douglas fir gets Fatty shipped to them (hungry)!
Someone should tell that to the Wombet's bugs. Man oh man, she gets a quite spectacular crop of wee green caterpillers who just lurve her basil.
