Re: 2012 Sailing Season

Here are some pictures from our last anchor out of the season at Cacaway Island on Lanford Creek, Chester River

( we still will day sail this weekend hopefully and then winterize).

We have made this a tradition in late October to come here and anchor for the annual geese circus. Thousands of geese from Canada use this creek and ajoining farm fields to
winter and hang out in ice free water. The circus usually begins 1/2 hopur before sunset when the geese swoop in in waves of 15 or so and land in unison......not. They sually are landing right next to the boat and you can see their struggles. Some bounce off the boat...some wipe out the whole line landing. Last year one hit the mast and landed with a thud on the deck dazed. he/ she eventually fell overboard, but the squaking was unreal. The waves of geese continue till an hour after sunset, when its very quiet.
