This won't get you through the entire winter, but I highly recommend participating in a Christmas light parade if you can. I'm a little late for the Marylanders with this idea - Annapolis is doing theirs tonight.
I kept the boat in long enough to participate in the Essex, CT "Trees in the Rigging" parade a couple of weeks ago. It was fun coming up with a design and decorating the boat in the weeks leading up to the parade. And when it came time for the parade, we ended up taking a share of first place in the judging!
One area where we definitely have room for improvement is the on-board party during the parade. Some of the other participants seemed to have that down to a science!
Here's a video of the parade (part of a longer promo piece that a local TV station did) You have to scroll to the 9:15 mark to see the beginning of the parade and my boat's moment in the sun (moon) starts around 10:20. Patience is the one that is decorated as a green tree with the star.
