Re: 2012 Sailing Season

Haleakula is all covered with her winter canvas as of today. Systems all winterized. Oil changed, Cushions all home for Donna to work on the new material over the winter.

2012 was a good year for us as we had our first sail early around March 30. Replaced the prop shaft and put a new dripless shaft on this year. Got struck by lightning to the tune of $12,000 (insurance paid for it all) and have all new electronics because of it.

We sailed 35 weekends with 4 four day trips and took our longest vacation ever to the LI Sound and New England for 25 days. We covered approx 3500 miles this year, one of our all time highs. Drank 7 cases of Pinot Noir. Changed the oil 6 times. Went through five
10 lb propane tanks ( we love to grill) and met up with many old friends and made some new ones.

Haleakula is our life for 9 months out of the year in a way, but the three months coming up is a good time to reflect, plan for next year, get house projects completed ( that stops in sailing season unless there is an emergency) and visit our land only friends.

Was a great year and hoping 2013 is equally as good and we meet more people and see our old friends.
