Okay, I didn't consider the hot exhaust option.

The reason why I would want to run the engine is that I have recently got the boat and wanted to gain some confidence in that the engine is a regular starter and that the glow plug starter is all working etc.

I will go with big bucket, and keeping the starting to a minimum.

Then will just put some anti freeze in the engine and leave it.

Are there any other tips for laying up the engine for a relatively long period of time?
