Sure you can.. run a halyard or two to a decent cleat near the bow or the toerail if you have one, tension it as a temporary forestay.. Then slacken the forestay and replace the 'chainplate' (proper term... not 'anchor plate'...
Re attach and retension the stay after the plate is secured.. give the caulking/sealant time to cure first.
