Re: Why all the fuss about mcgregor 26's

We have a 2000 Mac 26X with a Honda 50 outboard . We have refitted her, living aboard and cruising .
She is a stout ship and took us thru hurricane Isaac in Mobile Bay Ala , with only minor problems .
Our home port is Montgomery Ala and our cruising grounds are the Gulf . That means we have 400 miles of river to get to the Gulf . The motor does the river part well , and we sail in the Gulf .
In my opinion , anything with multifunctions doesn't work as well as something with a single purpose .
But the Mac makes a good trawler and a good sailer , maybe not the best of each , but does both well .
After living and cruising aboard her for 6 months now , we are happy with our decision to buy a MacGregor .
