Interior Painting ????

I have some questions about fiberglass PPP. (prep, prime, paint).

Interior Prep
I am going to be painting the interior of the boat during the spring, and wanted to get going on sanding and what not. Can i sand the old paint that is on the fiberglass? I've read different things, that a sander can dig dirt and dust into the fiberglass causing adhesion problems later. What is the recomended method for sanding (sand paper vs 3m pads) fiberglass

All the spots that are getting paint, are all behind cabinets and under cushions. The cabin is pretty much all teak. The old color is a pretty bland brown, but somewhat blends with the teak. Should i keep the same brown or can i go with a light gray or white? I'm really aprehensive and undecisive on color selection.

Lastly, do i have to go with the ol Interlux marine paint or can i just to do a kitchen and bath paint? I don;t want to waste money with expensive marine paint, but not looking to foolishly cut corners.

Again i greatly appreciate the advice!
