I have looked at Gale Sails and have difficulty imagining how you would get it rigged in the conditions where you would need it. In the demo videos it looks really easy but there are no waves and it looks like 12-15 knots of wind. Have you looked at options that would allow you to use your storm jib on a removable inner stay or even without a stay if it has a wire luff and you can tighten the halyard hard. Won't point well, but that is unlikely to be a deal breaker.

Heading back to Lake Ontario for this summer. Relatively few stops along the way from Grenada. Martinique, Guadeloupe, St. Martin (must have something to do with the French food), then Bermuda, New England and up the Hudson/Erie Canal. We were going to go via Newfoundland and Labrador but June remembered that one of the kids is getting married this summer - details, details!
