I grew up around boats my whole life. My father is a ship pilot, and avid fisherman. I have been at the helm of powerboats since I was a young child. I've also been a deckhand on harbor tugs. I absolutely love being out on the water. I have always been intrigued with sailing since a young age, and now at the ripe old age of 26 I finally got myself a boat.
I haven't taken any classes, but I have started reading books, forums, and any other information regarding sailing. I finally joined our local club, and met some good folks. I ended up with a 1965 Flying Scot. I was able to meet someone with a lot of sailing history (current liveaboard and also a avid scot racer). Crewing and racing with him has taught me more than anything else. I have also learned the major differences in the Scot and being at the helm of his 43 footer!!
I'm young, naive, and inexperienced when it comes to sailing... But I'm learning and man, life is good when you're out on the water.
