I have a Yanmar 3JH2E engine on my 1994 built PSC34 #274. The tag on the marine gear box reads Kanzaki model TuffTorq #WMGP4. I need the gear reduction ratio for ordering a fixed 3-blade prop. From all what I read in the forum I would assume the ratio is 2.14. Does the tag information contain any coded information about the ratio?
Thanks for your help.
Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang,
We have hull number 279 with the same engine that you have. Our transmission is a Kanzaki model KBW10 with a 2.14:1 reduction ratio. It is embossed in the label.

Thanks Neal. That gives me more ease to believe that the gear box on Yankee has a reduction ratio of 2.14 too. I also checked my original Pacific Seacraft manual. In the propulsion chapter it does not list neither the Yanmar 3JH2E engine, nor the Austral 17 x 10 2-blade prop, nor the 1" shaft diameter, nor the 1"x1.375"x4" cutless bearing, nor the stuffing box, but a reduction ratio of 2.14 for the gearbox. I do believe now that it might be correct and not just a copy/paste information.
