Maybe I missed it but I didn't see how many hours are on your engine? Although some older Volvo parts are cause for cardiac arrest, most are comparable to other engines. If your engine runs well and has relatively low hours (under 3000), and you aren't planning to cruise to remote locations there really isn't any reason to consider a re-power at this time. As others have pointed out the repairs you mentioned shouldn't really cost very much. If you anticipate several trips to Alaska, Haida Gwaii, etc and the engine has other issues like excessive blue smoke, major oil leaks, etc then you might want to look at new (our Volvo is 25 yrs old, 5000+ hrs, Alaska is in the plans and we are considering a re-power soon).
