I wanted to wireless function, where I could start and stop the camera from my iPad since I hope eventually to clamp it on the bow when it's so rough nobody should be on deck if it can be avoided. Last August the claimed wireless connection on GoPro didn't work at all. Perhaps they fixed it.
I got the Ion Air Pro. It worked where the GoPro didn't. GoPro is the clear leader in the business, but 6 months ago they claimed features that were not working at that time.
