It would be pretty risky for the seller to take real bills from the buyer and willfully bring their counterfeit product to the bank. I suppose it could happen.

However, the assertion that the bank would never give you a counterfeit it just wrong. They get into the money supply for sure. The most common place to pick them up is at the ATM. A teller should notice a bad fake, but they've gotten so good that they get past the Fed now too.
