The above picture is recent from Saugatuck Michigan, Lake Kalamoazoo about 3 miles inland from the pier heads of Lake Michigan. Lake Kalamazoo is feed by the Kalamazoo River. It is a very popular destination for cruising boaters. It always has been a shallow lake, but the exposed bottom is generally a foot or two below the water. Remote places like this are in very serious trouble.

The problem is, where do the funds come for dredging? From what I understand, the federal government has recently cut back on dredging.

I am very lucky in that our marina is on a lake that is dredged annual.
