Yes, I was using the term "varnish" for applying a coating. Cetol is my choice. I've used it to coat hatch boards, toe rails, and hand rails. I even used it on my picnic table and finally I have a varnish that lasts longer than one season. I like that it's not high gloss and it's durable. To me, it's what I envision as salty. However, I've never used Cetol where anything worked or slid against it. I was worried that it might stick or squeak when sliding my hatch open. Thanks to you guys I'm ready to start coating the pieces in the garage. I appreciate the Sailkote suggestion. I hadn't thought of that. I have some on the boat but I've only used it my cars and traveler.
