The main reason you don't want propane inside is that it is heavier than air, so in the event of a leak or heat expansion it will roll down to the deepest part of the bilge and stay there until it is removed, or and electrical switch triggers it.
The only way I know of removing it is to adapt an engine room blower with a long hose to vacuum it out.
shop vacs are likely to explode.
