getting my toes wet - Portland Oregon

Hey everyone. After a week of lurking I decided to register as this looks like an amazing community. I am new to sailing, as in, I have never sailed before, but I have had the urge to try for some time now.

I live in Portland, OR, and I work up near the airport. A few weeks ago I was driving to work along Marine Drive, which runs parallel to the Columbia River, and a few marinas. I saw those lines of sailboats and realized I need to start looking into this for real.

I also passed "Portland Sailing Center" and checked out their site. Apparently they offer sailing classes, which I'm thinking about checking out as it is literally a few miles from where I work. If anyone has ever checked that place out I'd love to hear about it.

I'd like to get a boat in the next year or so, something I can keep on the Columbia and spend weekends on, that kind of thing. I look forward to learning from everyone here. Just browsing the forums has already taught me a lot.
