Sailing is not a hobby. It's not a sport. It's an affliction. Tread softly.

If I can be so bold, let me recommend a course of action. Pick up a trailer sailor in the 20 foot range. You can get them fairly inexpensively, tow them with many vehicles and store them in your yard. The cost to try out sailing is minimal. Pick up a copy of The Complete Trailer Sailor by Brian Gilbert. He packs the book with lots of info, but specifically a portion is dedicated to providing specs, pictures, sketches, pros and cons of 50 or so small boats from 10 to 28 feet. It can help you find what you like, want and can't live without. Then, take the sailing class, or at least a sailing and seamanship class from the Coasties. That's a real must. Then . . . get out there.
