Think of the prop taken off the shaft and lying on the ground.

Think of it sitting on its forward face. If you can envisage standing over it, whichever hand can pick it up with your palm facing your foot, will show which rotation the prop is.

A Right handed prop rotates clockwise, and a Left handed prop rotates anti-clockwise.

A right handed prop will kick the stern to port going astern, and a left handed prop (as is mine) will kick to starboard when going astern.

The boat will turn to starboard quicker when going ahead with a right handed prop, and to port with a left handed prop.

(sorry, didn't read the OP properly before replying. My answer is for a fixed blade prop, not a Max Prop - though my answer is possibly the same.)
