fwiw I have a yanmar 2gm20f in mine, seems to fit ok, though the dingus that put the diesel tank over the drive shaft making it impossible to get to shaft log at all should have though things through a bit better.

yes, I'd prefer tanks in side lockers and forward for weight and better access, otherwise great

If you can find a good used diesel to put in, go for it. Just getting gasoline off the boat is a big safety plus. The 3GM30 will require a complete engine bed remove and reconstruct. My A35 originally had an Atomic that the previous owners changed to the Yanmar. There was obviously a lot of surgery done to fit it in. It's certainly not a simple swap out job and will require getting a new bed exactly right in order for the engine to sit at the right angle and depth. Your engine box will also need extending about 2" aft.

Is it any bigger than the 2gm? If so might be quite tricky... 2gm is snug already
