down angle transmission

I am buying a new yanmar engine that according to the seller could come with an 8 degree down angle transmission. The engine that I took out of my boat had a 7 degree down angle transmission. Shall I go ahead and buy it?
Can this problem be solved by tilting the engine or installing a rubber coupling? Please advice.

Thanks

Carlos

Re: down angle transmission

Someone correct me if I am wrong but that should be within the acceptable range using the engine motor mounts to bring it within the proper alignment.

Shouldn't the seller, I assume a dealer, be able to confirm this for you though

Re: down angle transmission

The seller has told me that he can take care of that and has also assure me that he will send his technicians to take a look at my boat. But he wants to sell, thats his job and once the engine is in place and paid for there is no way back. Whatever problems from there on will be on my own. I just want to Know if there could be any problem associated with that mismatch.

Thanks a lot for your response.

Yes, I agree that the "salesman" will do just about anything to earn your business You may consult an outside/neutral mechanic (pardon the pun).

If you post with more detail, (boat, year, and the engine) I bet you will get a better response, its likely someone here will have done it already .
