Is it possible to have your username changed?

I want to claim "merlin" (all lower case) without the numbers on the end that I currently have. Wondered if it was possible. There is a "merlin" registered but:

merlin

Nope. It is not possible. Members are never deleted...and changing requires you lose all your posts and rep and start anew. You can choose any available name and re-sign up. If you do that...advise me via PM and i will then ban your current screen name since two names are verbotten.
