You asked for it!

1) FIX THE SEARCH ENGINE! I know you've got to be loosing business because of it. On more than one occasion, I've given up going through 100+ slow-loading pages and decided to pay the extra $$$ at a different (less liked) web-site...

2) In my opinion, you've got too many adds. When it takes longer to load the page than it does to play a hand of solitaire, it's too long. When I first discovered Sailnet, the top TEN forums were displayed. Now, we only get the top FIVE...and a whole bunch of adds. I understand adds generate money, but enough is enough already.

Thanks,

Skipper, J/36 "Zero Tolerance"

OK, I'm sure you guys have something like this but I haven't been able to find it. Where can I see replies to threads I've posted in? Something like a "Show new replies to your posts."?

So if you don't have this you could add it...or someone could show me where to find this?

Click on User CP. It will show all the threads you have replied to and all new posts with those replies will show up.

Agreed. Currently working on the search engine.

The ad's are what helps (HELPS) to pay for the site. Not sure we can do a lot there or this thing really will be running in the red.

They really relay nothing of value. It is basically a computation of the number of years you have been here. Don't sweat them. The green boxes have some aspect of reputation to them (the more green boxes the better). However, since many, many reps were given out as a joke, I feeel that even they have lost any potential usefullness they had.

Judge the advice by the advice and history of the poster, and certainly not the rep points.

A suggestion to site mods and owners as per search engine. I have been through this one myself in site I run, and found that just about ANY built-in search engines (forum type) are weak.

It is very easy, and free, to set up a Google Custom Search for your site and then provide a search box right within your page - and it works.
It also allows revenue generation with google ad tie-ins on the results page

Google Custom Search Engine - Site search and more

Is it me, or have we lost the drop down menu at the bottom of the page to navigate between forums?

Picture section, trips, boats, and so on

Is there any chance you could include a section where users can post pictures of their boats, trips, and so on? If there is such a section here, could you please drop a link for it? Thank you.
