This site is so slow..... I clicked to open a new thread and then opened a new browser window and did all my Christmas shopping online and then came back and still had to wait for it to finish opening (all the fancy ads were there though) :-)).

We all know that CD, no worries, you mods do an amazing job. I'm just poking fun at the situation, since nothing else seems to work

Looks like somebody revised the code on the home Forums page, it now loads correctly, As does the /newposts/new posts page, i.e. the page loads with proper spacing immediately instead of loading the left column in the middle and then revising itself.

Not so for this page, which still loads and reloads the old way.

I came in through a redirect the other day and noticed g l a c i a l delays as it seems every ad and widget was calling out to someone else's server and trying to do or load things before it went back to the sailnet pages for the next call to someone else's pages.

I came up with some changes to the site which 'decouple' the serving of the ads from the serving of the content from the Sailnet website.

You'll see the page content come up much faster than before and the ads come up at the speed at which they can be sent to the site by the ad server.

You can start using the scroll bar or your mouse as soon as the page content is displayed and not have to wait for the banner ads to be displayed before navigating the site.

In addition, we'll be making some major upgrades to the site after the beginning of the year with new and easy to use features and an interface to Facebook and Twitter for those of you who Tweet or post on Facebook too, so that you can share selected Sailnet content on your Facebook page.

regards

Jeff J
