Malicious Script - Be Careful

There has been an attempt to load a malicious script into a post by a new user. User has been banned and posts deleted but please watch out for anything similar. Provided all your security settings are up to date your puter should give you a warning asking for confirmation before loading script. Obviously you should say NO, indeed you should never run script from any source that you do no know and trust. Please, take care and if you see any suspicious posts by new users report them to the Mod Squad. TD

I'm using Chrome on a Mac and am intermittently getting warnings about malicious code when moving between certain threads/pages. It's mentioning content that links to "whendone.xxx" (forgot if it's com or net).

Whazzap?

Not sure, but we had some reports earlier and have referred the matter to admin.

If anyone has additional details/reports, feel free to post here.

Got nailed by spyware yesterday from Sailnet, I was reading some thread and whammo, I get a fake anti-virus program telling me I was infected (presumably if I had continued it would have started demanding cash).

Don't know if it was an infected ad or an infected post that did it, I just handed the computer over to the IT department to clean up.

Does that mean you don't remember which thread ? Pity if that is the case cos it makes it impossible to try and track down the problem.

Reality is that these pop up anti virus messages are usually bogus and in most if not all cases does not mean you have a virus.

Any extra info would be most helpful.

Good thing I use Linux! The only thing I get pop ups on is a "box.php". I figured it was some kind of bug with firefox and linux though??? It comes up when I mouse over things generally.

I'm still seeing a malicious code warning every once in a while when moving between pages. Not as much as before but still there.

Also, I don't know if it's a cache issue or not, but I'm also seeing quite a few broken image links (e.g. - avatars, etc.).
