Password reset

so I thought I rememberd my password on here until I tried to sign-on from a different computer. Tried the email me my info link, but the password field is blank...

so I logged on from my laptop (had previously checked the remember me box at signing on and am able to access the account fine) and was going to reset my password from there, but it needs my old password to reset the password....

This is a little bit of a catch 22

Okay,

We'll take a closer look. Right now, it does appear there are some irregularities.

One thing is, we can't just give out passwords when folks ask. We have some procedures in place to prevent accounts from being compromised by unauthorized users. That means passwords can only be sent to e-mail addresses of record, among other things.

Please do me a favor and sign-out for the time being. That will allow a moderator to sign-in to your account and take a closer look. If all else fails, we'll communicate via this thread.

problem is if I sign out, I won't be able to sign back in until my password is sent via email, which isn't working right now as the password line is blank in the email. below is exactly what comes via email.

btw, I would be rather unhappy if you just gave out the password to an account, just because someone asked...

If you can reset it, please PM me, or email me at the address on file. otherwise let me know what I need to do.

I thought you said your computer has the "remember me" feature enabled? If so, you should be able to get back in in the same way that you signed-in this time, i.e. from your laptop.

At any rate, I've referred your question to the site Administrator. Hopefully Admin can get this squared away for you. Give us some time, though -- it may be a bit before Admin can get to this.

yeah, and as long as I don't click "Log Out" on my computer, it will keep my logged in... as soon as I log out, I'll need the password to get back in...

I can close my browser and leave the forums for a hour or so if that would help, but not actually "log out".

it's been a few months now, and still having the same problem, and still only able to access sailnet from my laptop because I can't reset my password.... any update?

whoa...now this is interesting. I can see what the problem is but I'm not sure how to overcome it. Get back to you shortly.
