You all know Jeff Halpern (jeff_h). Friend of the Wombat, Friend of Sailnet and all round good guy. Few of us here have not in some way been ably assisted by the man. As curmudgeons go, not a bad bloke.

Now Jeff is a very private soul and may well be unimpressed by my going public with this but last week Jeff and his sweetheart took the big step and tied the marital knot. Now off on a short honeymoon aboard the much loved Synergy, JH should be back on deck shortly.

Sorry JH but we really couldn't let the great day pass unnoticed so from the crew of the Womboat to the crew of Synergy, congratulations and our very best wishes to you both.

Jeff, I hope the wedding and honeymoon went well. If Barb was able to handle this past week -- a real scorcher -- on the boat, then you have truly found yourself a keeper. (But if she wasn't, I can't say as I would blame her one bit -- I know I would have withered away!)

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. The wedding went very well, the honeymoon was about what you would expect cruising with my new wife of one week and one day and who makes me very happy, but in a record heat wave.

Of couse I am playing catch up in the office but I will write up the return trip and descibe in detail what happened when the steering failed on Synergy (big time) and the woodruff key that ties the rudder post to the emergency tiller fitting was left out when the rudder was installed last time eliminating the ability to use the emergency tiller. (Hint: yes, you can hove-to on a Farr 38 without a rudder, and yes, you can sail a Farr 38 without a rudder surprisingly well, but no, I did not sail her home that way....But that's another story.)
