I know that. You know that. By now certainly the mods know it . Perhaps even the Admin knows it. But does anybody who can actually do anything about it care enough to do so? I've argued before and I say again: All evidence would tend to indicate they do not.

I believe in paying my way. That's why I've always been opposed to advert blockers. But I'm using one now. If Sailnet's owners don't care enough, why should I?

That would've annoyed the livin' hell outta me, no matter what.

I'm guessing that garbage was served-up by one of the advert servers I already have blocked, because I haven't seen nor heard it.

Sailnet, you're killing your reputation, here. It's just one thing after the other with these questionable adverts. A reputation once tarnished is very, very difficult to get respectable again.

I do not, have not, had any of the problems described in this thread. The adds though, they are obnoxious.

Using Exploder and Symantec?

The "You're a winner" was hitting me with Firefox and Trend Micro until just recently. The speed of this site or lack thereof might have something to do with the multiple pages being loaded by the domain prefix of ad. . I used to drop by this site multiple times daily. Due to the ridiculously slow load times I rarely come here more than once a day now, if that.

Pages here seem to load just as timely as any other sites I visit??? Maybe slightly slower, but I'm talking a 1/4 second.

Same here chef. I'm using Chrome with no ad-block and not having problems. I think the guys that are having problems have just been over-cookied from porn sites.

Matvolver is on a distinguished road
Personally, I've seen the winner ads on my school's comps (Dell probably owns the school, lol) but I have never had any problems with my Macbook Pro (knock on wood = facepalm several times )

It's not FireFox, itself, that defeats the advert garbage, it's FF plus Adblock Plus, which is available only for FF and a few other browsers.

The other thing that FF gives you is marginally more immunity from exploits, as it doesn't natively support Microsoft's ActiveX. (ActiveTrojan would be a more apt name. It's widely felt, amongst those with a security/software clue, to have been on of the worst ideas MS ever came up with.)

Actually, Semi, Macs generally seem to deal better with the crap than PCs regardless of browser.

PCs suck. That's just the way it is.
