I was aiming for humour. Apparently I might have missed. I gotta use smileys more often.

And Rags never does so, right?

Although, you might have a point, it this thread were just about anyone else on SN.

Erps,

You do have a point, in that treating Rags as Rags treats everyone else is akin to stooping to his/her/its (Rags never did give a preference of personal pronoun) level. However, I see no condemnations from you of Rags' behavior. Besides, "it" seems to enjoy the attention.

That's a fair criticism. I think it's human nature to be more sensitive to "slights" aimed at one's side or position. I don't see the level of personal attacks between some of you guys as being equal, but I acknowledge that my bias probably affects that view.

What's that supposed to mean? This one has worked for me for 52 years. I'm too old to learn a new one.

This thread was originally posted in "Announcements". We've moved it to "Tech Support" since it deals with a website administrative matter.

Once the subject was exhausted, we left the thread open to give folks a chance to goof around, if they wanted to. Unfortunately, some saw this as an opportunity to continue sniping at the o.p. and others. The thread is now locked.

This thread was never in "off-topic/politics/etc", where there is more latitude in how/what is debated. In the Sailing forums, we expect everyone to adhere to the the standard of civility. Badgering people is not allowed.

If you are one of those people whose feelings get easily hurt, or who gets upset if your opinions aren't validated, or can't stand to have your world view challenged or even debated - DON"T GO INTO OFF-TOPIC.

But if you do anyway despite yourself, DO NOT bring your gripes back here and try to vindicate your bruised ego in the sailing forums. In other words, if you can't separate your off-topic angst from the sailing forums, don't go to off-topic.
