Re: "NEW POSTS" counter fubar?

I'm clear of that problem as well but I'm thinking either PopUp Blocker or AdBlock.

Hey Marty ... maybe I was doing something wrong but before this change I could not find posts older than 24 hours, read or otherwise.

Re: "NEW POSTS" counter fubar?

td.. using the 'remember me' function, getting back after a summer's absence I'd have several thousand posts come up the first time I visited..more pages than I'd ever have time to catch up on.

The old way always put up as many threads as had been updated since my previous visit. If I closed the page and came back more than 30 minutes later then only those updated in the previous 30 minutes would show up - which I gather was Minne's complaint.

Re: Wonder how many have noticed ...

I noticed the favicom, but it does not bother me, the non auto reset DOES BOTHER ME!!!!! me feels they showed up together, the flavicom did not mean much!

I'm going to need one of them hatchets that DR is looking for! an auto reset after say 2-6 hrs is fine, but I do not feel like having to hit some blinkin button everytime I leave so I know what is new the next time!

Re: "NEW POSTS" counter fubar?

fast,

Looking at another thread WAY below here re the flavicom thingy.....admin can set the auto to different time limits than 30 min. 2-6 hrs would be better for some like minne, but this having to reset manually BS......not my cup o tea!

Then again, I rarely use the page he is using to see what is new in posts he wrote in......maybe why the non auto reset does not bother me. I go to old posts of mine to see what I posted to if I forget!

I understand, Marty... you realize the mods don't make these calls, we just find out about it when you do, most of the time...

Re: "NEW POSTS" counter fubar?

Yeah I know all about the upper beings doing a change. You as a mod show up 3-6 hours after said change, and "ALL HE!! IS BREAKING LOOSE!" That happens on a forum I muderate on that has some 200K+ reg names on it! Fortunetly, I only do one area, not all of them. So things like this get brought up in a forum tech area, or get transfered there from another area, I never go there.......any way.

This is one of them, you will not please all in either direction!

Re: "NEW POSTS" counter fubar?

An unread post is an unread post why attempt to call it anything else.

Having posts appear as 'read' without reading them is basically wrong.

I use forums all the time that do it different ways - for me personally I could care less how a forum does it and it's the content and members on a forum that keep me coming back, not whether or not a post automatically sets itself to something it's not: "Read".

Oh No, this isn't gonna work either...

Now the "new posts- no religon/off topic" tab is at the "top"..!!! and the new posts is at the "bottom" and somebody added "Todays Posts"...whats up with that....???

I can't accept all these changes....It's gotta go go back to the way it was...!!

I didn't initially see your smiley at the bottom and wasn't sure you were kidding.

I'm perplexed by members who reportedly liked signing in, reading a couple of posts and having the rest deleted (auto read) without having the chance to come back later to finish what you didnt get to.

Certainly, New Posts still contains all New Posts in chronological order. You can just glance down it to when you last visited and ignore the rest beyond. No harm done that I'm able to comprehend.
