i've been here a while!i've seen people come and go [mostly go] i'm an old exmarine and have lived a pretty hard life,i demand and expect just a little respect and i resent disrespect to anyone, when someone/anyone posts their "done" i feel a loss because that tells me their hurting,I DON"T LIKE THAT and its seems to me anyone who does is an a**hole,i'm not overy fond of a**hole,take that anyway you want!

I do not hit a forum that seems to stay the same, unless it is a smaller VERY small user oriented setup, ie less than 10K reg posters. Once you start to hit much over that, much less over 100K like this one, or 300K or so on one I moderate on. Things get real phun! or is that "FUN" or some such thing. Then you get sock puppets.....what a pita some folks can be!

Sea Hunter, I am sad to see you go as with any out there doing it cruiser, there are so few of us here. Personally, I blame WingNWing for all of this. SHe's always so nice, has lots of great answers, is supportive, gets together with SN members off the board, etc. However, she does NOT have a Catalina and that is a major low point. Not sure I can ever get over it, really. Just watch, next she'll tell you she doesn't have two grills on her boat. I am just counting the days...

On a more serious note, I have found a great bunch of people here. Lots of friends. Lots of good folks. I learn a lot and try to contribute my drivel and poor jokes as I can. I love anything about cruising with kids and the lifestyle in general. Its 1130 and just finished another PM to a member regarding something circa that. Sea Hunter asked how you can have 10000 posts, and there is your answer. I am absolutely passionate about this stuff and love talking about it.

This forum, my friends, is just a meeting place. Good people are here and there are the occasional jerkolas that the mods try to escort out or put in a corner (suggest ignores). But in the end, SN is what you make of it. If you want to imrprove it - do it! Add content. Talk about places you have been. THrow in a helping hand. Get together with others. THis has nothing to do with being loyale to SN... its about being loyale to each other as sailors and being passionate about our lifestyle. In the end, that's what its all about. I am afraid if you sit back and quietly wait for SN (or any forum) to be what you want it to be, you are in for a long wait. WHen you learn to take and give what helps you, then you will enjoy it.

In the meantime, have fun with it and participate or quietly read as suits you best. And if Smack sends you any PM's with pics, just delete them. There are some things even more potent than ipecac and keyboards get expensive.

First of all, thank you for your service, second, I don't think people are jumping for joy over the hurt of a fairwell poster. Insult a group of people and expect some digs back. That's the rules of conversation in any language. The OP called an unspecific group of us crustations and, and ego something-or-others, what ever. It's too bad, the more sailors posting the more info gets thrown around and the more I can learn here.........except about anchoring, I have that down, just go big.
