Angry River Forest Marina owned by Joe Charels

Never ever take your boat to river forest marina on the Chattahoochee river.
My boat was towed there by boat US due to a prop nut failure. I was told by the yard manager John, that they wanted my boat out of there since it is a sailboat and they only work on upscale power boats. My boat was to ugly to be in the "marina". It seems that john has total control over the boats he picks and chooses even if it means turning down business. they refuse to work on the boat

This yard is owned by Joe Charles or Charles Chargers. I will not buy his products either.

My boat is a 65 Durbeck flush-deck with all rigging removed for the crossing

Why get so upset over this? If they don't welcome your business, take it to somewhere that will welcome you. I wouldn't want to lose sleep out of this.

He has every right to refuse service, it is his shop, not yours. However, if he refuses to service based on your race or religion that is a different story. But race card of tern does not work well.

Take a good night sleep, you will be fine.

Not upset however since they yelled at me i feel that the boat may be in jeopardy of some sort and i am not there to oversee her.

Just warning others to steer clear of this place. I have since found out that i am not the first person to have an issue at river forest, being a part of a large marine association gets me lots of information: mad:

With a prop nut failure... exactly how are you supposed to get it out of there?

Re: River Forest Marina owned by Joe Charels

Most peculiar, that a tow boat would take you into a yard without calling in ahead to see if they would receive it. Without knowing that a local yard didn't take in certain types of vessels.

Especially since the marina is listed as a boat-us cooperating marina and the base for a towboat-us operator, who presumably would know what his home yard would or wouldn't take in. A yard that advertises as doing sailboat rigging, and having 24x7 diver and mechanic services, so replacing a prop nut is a fast easy profit.

A cynic might think this was just a slam on a marina from a new troll.

the river forest marina mentioned above is NOT the marina in the original post
RiverForest is in NC. the one he is complaining about is in Alabama!
