Private Messages

I'm a new member and would like to send a private message to another member. Not sure whether I've been signed up 7 days yet so that may be the reason I'm not able to. If another few days go by and I'm still not able to send a PM, what do I do? Thanks very much.

Re: Private Messages

I think you have to make 20 posts before you can pm.
So - lets hear from you, lots of topics, just start reading the posts and I'm sure you will find something to add or ask.

Re: Private Messages

Thanks for the welcome guys. Aussie living in Sydney now, but originally from US. My wife and I are planning to buy a yacht and cruise the Med and/or Caribbean for a few years. Have done quite a bit of sailing (weekend cruising and non-spinnaker harbour racing), over the years and may be old (60th this year) but not an "old salt" expert by any means.

Re: Private Messages

60 is not old at all ! Don't forget to post on the "Introduce Yourself" and "Sailnet members from around the world check in" and the never ending picture quests like "Post a Sunset Pic" etc.

Re: Private Messages

Welcome to the zoo.
You can also use the chat room and make a private chat if the user you happen to want to PM is online at the time.
In the left corner of the webpage you will see a bar that says xxx people are here. Click on that and it will expend to show a list of users that are here - find the user (if here) then click on it and follow directions - a totally private chat box will open between you and them.

Re: Private Messages

Welcome!

You can also post to the song chain if you are too shy to post about your sailing foibles/prowess. That's a quick way to get your post count up - IF you follow the rules.

Also, while Chuckles is right about the chat tool, several members of the board, myself included, never use it, and may have it disabled.

There are a few here that reside in Oz (the Wombat comes readily to mind), so you're not alone.
