just how the heck did we get chat anyway. I thought the "poll" results clearly showed 57% voted against it!

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

now if they really want to fix something. Fix the Security Certificate being bad. That would really help

But yes. I miss it, too, especially the ability to drop in and out and chat in real time with sailors from all over the world. Perhaps if they fix it it will also fix the issue with not being able to truly turn it off that some people encountered.

Helloooo Doctor. You looking my way when you say that ?

Damn it all , while I'd be more than happy for chat to never rear its ugly head again I'll be content when its back cos then you lot won't have to clutter up the board with this senseless chitter.

Anywho, settle my lovelies. Your precious will be back and probably sooner rather than later.

See? This is why chat is pointless. 13 posts in almost 12 hours. Is this all that goes on in the chat room?

It's not the three clicks that aggravate me, it's the three clicks every single time I log on.

+1 for bringing back chat, there's a great group of sailors in there that have a great time hanging out and discussing sailing and everything else.

For those that haven't checked it out, just drop in and check it out.

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

Chat is down?... I haven't noticed, other than for the fact that I have not had to turn it off lately...

But I have to say that I have found the new ad for RoadKilltshirts very distracting as of late...

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

So apparently there is nothing wrong with the chat, but there is something wrong a certain anti virus program, that is frequently related to Best Buy, which has detected the new chat room version as a virus.

Maybe now would be a good time to learn how to disable the real time scanning on your anti virus program, until the problem, which is not related to sailnet, is fixed in the next virus database update!

That's a good idea. There is already a small #sailing channel on Undernet. It would be nice to use IRC as the back end. Of course the problem is the current chat is hooked up with the user database of the forum.

"Sensless chitter"?? Gee, Andrew. The chat regulars have some time on their hands. Rather than clutter up the board, perhaps a better location for the "senseless chitter" would be your inbox?

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

Boy, it doesn't bode well when mod's dis the folks that use chat.
My previous "there's a chat room" post was sarcasm. I'm in chat daily and find it a valuable means of communication with both folks I've met and new users asking questions.

Andrew, if you visited chat once in a while I'd value your opinion on the mindless chittering.

Frankly, I think the admin's would be better off killing the off topic and political forums. But then the mod's would have nothing to do.
