Good one, blow. Now you'll bring out of the woodwork all of the members who think the chat is useless and should go away anyway.

But yes. I miss it, too, especially the ability to drop in and out and chat in real time with sailors from all over the world. Perhaps if they fix it it will also fix the issue with not being able to truly turn it off that some people encountered.

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

Another problem. When you visit a thread now , midway down the page & in the center of the page there an ad space now that can't be closed & obscures the post under it making it impossible to read .

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

This is insanity. Not only am I T-plus-four frigging weeks past my usual launch date, but now I can't even complain about it daily in chat?

Can we please just use an IRC channel or something?

You COULD just use this thread as the chatroom. Just keep hitting refresh (F5).

Can you imagine what it would be like if it took *gasp* 4 *gasp* instead of 3 clicks to shut it off?

Put me down for one.

However, I'm more interested in the update solving the problem of it coming back on all the time.

gfh,

Your blog is a riot!
Maintenance monkeys indeed! My boat has been in the water since April 16th and I have still not gone for a single sail yet as my own maintenance monkeys have required attention before sailing.
The dreaded deck re-core project is mostly complete (on only the port side) so next visit to the boat should include actual sailing time, I hope.
Rafts of maintenance chores still to do...

Thanks man. I'd rather be writing about sailing, but I guess freaking out is good for stoking up a sentence or two.

Good luck with your re-core.
