Good news on the 'Chat' front

I received an email last night in response to a voice mail I left for the support folks at Envolve.com who provide our 'chat' feature here.

They acknowledge that their chat software is causing Norton/Symantec to throw warning messages and are working on changing the program so that it does not cause this to happen.

They told me that we can expect a resolution sometime this coming week - so hopefully the chat feature will only be off for a new more days.

Will they resolve the problem with turning itself back on too?

What's the story with the "like" feature disappearing too?

There is a thread about that for a week or so. Not a word or explanation about that from any moderator. What is happening?

I remember a previous thread about the subject where members expressed satisfaction regarding the system as it is, or was.

Wow, after radio silence from them, that's good news.

Would you warn us before you do the new implementation? My office's IT guys aren't happy with me because of all the virus warnings my computer generated, and I'll likely switch back to the smartphone app or my phone's browser for a few days once chat is implemented, just to play it safe.

Paulo,

Only the admins can control the site features. Jeff J has been extremely busy dealing with the more pressing issues lately. When we get an update on the Like button we'll be sure to pass it on. I think on the scale of things, it isn't as much of a priority right now but we know everyone misses it.

Well, I hope you hurry up. Our female moderator has been trying to creep into the main forums and causing the rest of us a lot of headaches. Scary business.

HEHE!

Bah. Just for that, I won't even attempt to reign in the chat regulars who are getting twitchy.

Hi Donna,

As you can see it was not just me. Plenty threads and guys asking what was happening for a week or so and this was the first answer. It was provided an explanation for the chat issue but none to the "like button". It seems both are related it would be easy to explain that was just a technical problem and not a decision of removing the like button.

Regards

Paulo
