IOS 8.3 Navionics issue

Hi there

I've been using navionics UK on my wifi only iPad Air successfully since last July, using a Bluetooth connected gps.

Last weekend this stopped working and now Navionics are telling me it's due to the 8.3 iOS version no longer supporting external gps and to contact Apple. The gps appears to work on the iPad. It is connected and finds satellites. Unsurprisingly, Apple are telling me it's not their job to keep third part apps working and to contact Navionics.

Has anyone else come up against this issue? Does anyone know of a solution?

If you are planning to use a wifi only iPad (without internal gps) for navigation, think twice.

Thank you in advance

Navionics should look for a fix and upgrade their software. I'm using their app on an iPhone 6 and have not had any problems. Have you restarted the iPad? Sometimes that's all it takes.

Re: IOS 8.3 Navionics issue

BadElf reports that IOS 8.3 has broken all connectivity to all external GPS devices. They advised people to not update to this OS but they anticipate Apple will resolve this problem.

Re: IOS 8.3 Navionics issue

I saw something this morning that they just went live with a new version of the Boating app for iOS -- not sure if maybe upgrading the app will help the issue but it might be worth a shot.
