Exhaust Elbow

I have a Universal 5432 and am in need of an exhaust elbow. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I've been working on our Islander Bahama 30 that had a very rusted exhaust elbow and wet riser. After disassembly I discovered the flange was threaded for schedule 40 plumbing pipe. I bought the pieces needed to get the best shape, cut a piece for the water outlet welded it up and painted it. Cheap and with some exhaust wrap quiet too.

Re: Exhaust Elbow

The Universal 5411 on my previous boat had the exhaust elbow made up from standard pipe fittings (elbows, tee, reducers, nipples). When it came time to replace it, a trip to Home Depot provided all the black iron parts I needed for about $30.

Re: Exhaust Elbow

PAULCR1: Not sure what you ever did with your exhaust elbow but a recent issue with excessive heat on my elbow led to me unwrapping and seeing how it was put together. Very simple standard threaded pipe vs. the $200 westebeke elbow I have seen out there. Let me know if you want/need a picture and I will grab it. Very simple.

My big problem is that I have heat at this elbow that actually caused the muffler wrap to smolder and smell (that is hot). I plan on shooting temperatures to see what is going on and thus far have cleaned everything to ensure no back pressure (except for where manifold joins elbow)....and all this happens at 160F before a major over-heat. I am going to put post out on specific topic. Ever have this?

Hi Westerml,
I had my existing exhaust riser welded and it has functioned fine since. However, it cost me $200 to have this done and after I found a new one on ebay for $80. Day late and a dollar short.
