Westerbeke heat riser on an Atomic 4?

Is the westerbeke exhaust riser compatible with an A4 gas engine?
I have only seen them installed on diesels.
Seems to me that if it works, I could eliminate the U-tubing that takes up so much room under the sink in my Catalina.
