The Universal-aka Atomic-aka really Kubota Tractor diesel engines were supposed to be real workhorse engines, I'd have no problem with owning one. As long as it was checked as being in good working condition, like any other diesel engine that wants to intrude on my conciousness.

This is an old thread but anyone looking and can't find your Universal 5411 SERIAL NUMBER LOCATIONS are located in these places, hope this helps.

Stamped on upper left hand corner of block - ignition side - facing flywheel end (front of engine).

Stamped in block directly above flywheel housing, under front oil filler.

On engine nameplate located on reverse gear housing cover.

On engine nameplate located on engine manifold.

I have a 24 hp universal like to know the average fuel consumption of this engines at about 2000 rpm
the boa is a 40' racer tradewind 1980
