Bavaria stanchion question

Hi- I looked at a 1999 bav '38CC today... Liked the boat and it seems well maintained but the stanchions are all loose. I've been doing some reading at it seems that this is not atypical... How big of a deal is this to fix? Can it be fixed? I didn't see evid of water damage and apparently deck moisture readings are good. Thanks

Bavaria stanchion question

Late response but hopefully it helps someone:
Loose stanchions is pretty common on certain generations of Bavaria sailboats.
It's easily fixed once you gained access to the inside of the fitting. Just add a rubber washer and a big stainless washer and tighten it.

Rain water can easily penetrate through loose stanchions and it's not always easy to see where it comes in so I would recommend getting it fixed (I've fixed all looses stanchions on my 2001 Bavaria 47)
