Stupid Question

Please excuse my stupid question, but I recently bought a 2011 Beneteau 37 and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to turn on the soleniod valve for the propane to the stove/oven. There is no switch and none of the breakers on the 12v panel is label for the gas. In fact we switched all of the breakers on and still no gas. The bottle is full and connected, the solenoid is wired but to what I can't find. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Re: Stupid Question

The Beneteau we've cruised on had no solenoid.. it had a manual valve (red handle, 90 degree turn) in the aft cabin locker nearest the galley... Maybe since you do have a solenoid they put the switch there still....????

Re: Stupid Question

Thanks Faster. I'll look again in the aft cabin locker, but I didn't see anything in it to operate the solenoid or a gas valve.

Re: Stupid Question

Try the Beneteau owners group on Yahoo.

They have searchable postings, surely someone else has asked, I'm surprised it's not clearly spelled out in your owners manual.

Re: Stupid Question

I have seen a gas valve under the sink as well.

Also this might help.

Quote:
GAS SYSTEM
There is a TAP with black knob on top of the gas bottle.
There is a TAP under the cooker.
Also in this position is the VETUS GAS DETECTOR SENSOR. Its red LED is to warn of a faulty sensor. Do not contaminate it with water, cleaning fluids, sprays, ANYTHING!
Switch in bottom L/H of the VETUS GAS DETECTOR just aft of the cooker turns it ON. LED’s indicate active switch selection. Switch in the top R/H position turns the gas valve ON Note that only ONE gas sensor is fitted. (The FAN switch is to control an extractor fan, I don’t know if this is fitted and I have requested clarification). CONT allows operation in continuous mode when crew are on-board or in intermittent mode, which saves power, for when you leave the yacht. The detector will detect combustible gasses and carbon monoxide (CO). Operation is described in the VETUS operation manual pages 16 to 18. A steady green sensor LED is normal. There are combinations of flashing LED and acoustic alarm. Green flashing and acoustic is a warning of gas. Red flashing and acoustic is an alarm. There is a TEST function which closes the gas valve, sounds the alarm (and starts the fan-if fitted) and an alert to a faulty sensor.

Stupid Question

I know that on a standard propane they have a built in safety valve , if you hook up the tank to an empty line the rush of gas throws the safety , so close the valve and open it real slow , that may be the problem
