Secondary fuel filter yanmar 3gm30f

I am trying to change the secondary fuel filter on our yanmar 3gm30f in our Beneteau 36cc.

After a couple of days intense planning I finally found a wrench that could loosen the threaded ring.

Then I ran into the problem that I could only pull the bowl/container 1/4 way out. Pretty frustrating to see only 1/4 of the pink filter and fasten the threaded ring without having replaced the filter.

Question

1. How do I pull out the bowl/ container ?
2. Do I need to loosen the screw marked red on the photo ? ( the screw marked yellow is the bleeding screw)

Look forward to tips

Remove threaded ring. Will drop completely down past the bowl. Loose is not enough.

Re: Secondary fuel filter yanmar 3gm30f

There is little room for the cup to drop down while the filter is attached so what I did was take off the locking ring, let the cup drop down, and took a small screw driver to pry down the filter into the waiting cup - then I was able to wiggle the two together through the wire maze. Put something absorbent under everything because you have to tilt the cup, and the contained fuel becomes, well, uncontained. You might want to take a picture of this area of your engine before you start - it's pretty easy to knock loose one of the wires. I'm assuming that your engine is almost impossible to get to like other small boat engines.
