Both $200K ish, both in great condition, both well equipped (actually the 473 is a little better equipped), The 473 has the deep draft keel, the Norseman does not have teak decks. We will sail around the NE for the next four years or so and eventually retire on the boat and sail the Carribean. Which boat would be best?
The Norseman 447 has an awesome reputation. We made an offer on one that had been rode hard and put away wet. It was a great boat. The motor was tired though and I was very concerned about part availability for the marinized Peugot diesel engine. I think with the Norseman, you'll have a solid platform to build from. I don't know about the other boat.
I looked at a number of Beneteau 473s last year while choosing my boat and they are very well adapted to life in the warm calm Caribbean waters with a very wide beam and large amounts of interior space.
It is hard to compare two boats built (and designed) 16 years apart as much has changed in design concepts and materials over that time.
sorry, your right, I haven't posted stuff before and I didn't think it worked, so I tried again.
This has been very helpful.
