outboard mount

Has anyone here used the outboard mount on the Oceanis/Beneteau 43? We just mounted a 6hp Tohatsu and the whole stern rail shakes a lot with the weight. Nothing looks broken but it's just not sturdy. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Franc, you might be strong to handle a 6HP . We go with a 3.3 (miss the old lighter 2HP) and a 2mts RIB. This is the lightest we found in market. With such weight, never noticed any shake. We also went for strong arms bimini attached to stern rail, making for a stronger set.

stern rail OC 43

Yes, I too have a flimsy stern rail. (hull #9). I have spoken to Beneteau and they are looking into it.The mount nearest the stern entry (to port) is showing crazing on the fiberglass. This rail needs additional vertical support, as the top and lower rail extend beyond the stern, creating a cantilever situation. Please call /write Mike Watson at Beneteau and urge them to respond / correct.

Hello,

We have installed a watermaker. 60L/H Dessalator. This will compensate the little tanks.

furling issues also

Also having trouble with the furling main. Found a couple of the balls from the ball bearings on deck the other day. Did anyone figure out a solution?

reviews?

Hi, I bought a O43 this week, lying in Croatia. Anyone that has read any boat reviews. Can't find any detailed test on the net except this one (in slovenian):
revijakapital.com/navtika/clanki.php?idclanka=1149

I also found this more general article:
boatpoint.com.au/reviews/2007/beneteau-oceanis-40-43-46-9933

Hello,

There is at least 3 reviews most in french and english: Voile magazine, Bateaux et Yachting world ou monthly in 2007 and 2008.

I have one it is a great boat for the value. It needs minor improvements to become a blue water sailboat.
