Beneteau 473 cutlass bearing

New owner of a 2003 473.
Does the shaft have to come out to replace the cutlass bearing? Yard is quoting 10-12 hours which feels excessive but not sure.
Any advise around cutlass bearing is appreciated.

It depends on the tools that they have available. If the yard has a hydraulic cutlass bearing puller, the removal and installation will take a couple hours max. If they don't, then 10 hours is reasonable. Most competent yards have a hydraulic puller.

I've done the job myself three times without a hydraulic puller and had to pull the shaft each time. I yearned for a professional puller but they're expensive for the DIY boat owner that will use it every 10 years or so.
